Monterey, California Cycle Challenge 2008

"Better to regret the things you've done, than those you haven't." (Unknown)

I will be taking part in my fifth annual Overseas Cycle Challenge in Monterey, California this year. The event takes place between the 3rd. and 13th. September and involves cycling 100k (62 miles) a day for five days.

In the past, I have taken part in the cycle challenges in Umhlanga Rocks, South Africa – Lake Balaton, Hungary – Flagstaff, Arizona and Niagara, Ontario. These four cycles enabled me to raise in excess of €40,000 for the Children’s Medical and Research Foundation of Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital, Crumlin. To participate in this year’s Challenge, each participant must raise a minimum of €5,000. I am therefore asking you to support me by clicking on one of the PayPal Donate buttons below.

What your donations will achieve:

  • Family Rooms.
  • Research into the Genetics of Childhood Cancer.
  • Expansion of the hospital’s A&E Unit.
  • New stand alone Adolescent Unit.
  • Category 3 Laboratory.
  • Intensive Care, Cardiac and Dental Equipment.
  • Parent’s Accomodation.
  • Ward Refurbishment.

Why not consider joining myself and the other participants on the cycle (There are usually between 80 and 100 participants.), on an overseas walk or one of the Foundation’s many other fundraising events and raising money for a great cause. You will make many new friends and really enjoy yourself.

For further information on participating in one of the events, have a look at The Children's Medical and Research Foundation Website.
